Workplace Risk Assessments
What's Included

A Thorough, Practical Risk Assessment Process

Our risk assessments go beyond a simple checklist. We work alongside your team to understand your daily operations, identify every significant hazard, and produce a clear, actionable report that helps you meet your legal obligations under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

Hazard Identification

We conduct a detailed walkthrough of your premises, observing work activities, interviewing staff, and reviewing existing documentation. Every physical, chemical, biological, and ergonomic hazard is systematically recorded and categorised.

Risk Evaluation Matrix

Each hazard is scored using a recognised risk matrix that evaluates both the likelihood of occurrence and the potential severity of harm. This gives you a clear, prioritised view of where to focus your resources first.

Control Measures

We recommend practical, proportionate control measures following the hierarchy of controls. From elimination and substitution through to administrative controls and PPE, every recommendation is realistic and suited to your business.

Regular Reviews

Risk assessments are living documents. We schedule periodic reviews and update your assessments whenever there are changes to your workplace, equipment, processes, or staffing arrangements to ensure continued compliance.

Comprehensive Documentation

You receive a professionally written report with clear findings, risk ratings, recommended actions, and responsible persons. This documentation is HSE-ready and demonstrates your commitment to workplace safety if ever inspected.

Why It Matters

Risk Assessments Are a Legal Requirement — Not Optional

Under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, every UK employer must ensure the health, safety, and welfare of their employees so far as is reasonably practicable. The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 make it a specific legal duty to carry out suitable and sufficient risk assessments.

Failure to comply can result in HSE enforcement notices, prosecution, and unlimited fines. More importantly, inadequate risk assessments put your people at real risk of injury or worse. A proactive approach protects lives, reduces absence, and demonstrates to your workforce that their safety is your priority.

  • Fulfil your legal obligations under UK health and safety legislation
  • Reduce workplace accidents and the associated costs of absence and claims
  • Demonstrate due diligence to insurers, clients, and regulatory bodies
  • Build a safety-first culture that improves staff morale and retention
FAQs

Common Questions

How often should risk assessments be reviewed?

There is no fixed legal frequency, but best practice is to review your risk assessments at least annually. You must also review them whenever there is a significant change to your workplace, such as new equipment, altered processes, a move to new premises, or following an accident or near miss.

Is a risk assessment a legal requirement for all businesses?

Yes. Every employer in the UK is legally required to carry out risk assessments. If you have five or more employees, you must also record the significant findings in writing. Even if you employ fewer than five people, the duty to assess risks still applies — you are simply not obligated to write it down, though it is strongly recommended.

Who needs a workplace risk assessment?

Every business with employees needs risk assessments, regardless of size or sector. Specific assessments are also required for particular hazards such as COSHH substances, display screen equipment, manual handling, fire, and for vulnerable groups including young workers, pregnant employees, and lone workers.

What happens after the risk assessment is complete?

We provide you with a comprehensive written report detailing every identified hazard, its risk rating, and the recommended control measures. We will also assign action priorities and timescales. Our team can support you with implementing the recommendations and scheduling follow-up reviews to track progress.

How much does a professional risk assessment cost?

The cost depends on the size and complexity of your workplace, the number of activities to be assessed, and any specialist assessments required (for example, COSHH or noise). We offer a free initial consultation to understand your needs and provide a transparent, fixed-fee quotation with no hidden charges.
